Kia has opened public bookings for the Tasman Intensive program in South Korea—a two-day, one-night off-road and camping experience designed to showcase the off-road capability of its all-new Tasman pickup. The initiative marks a major push by Kia to revitalise South Korea’s off-road culture, which has seen a decline in recent years. With the Tasman’s arrival stirring new interest, Kia is taking a hands-on approach to foster a growing community of enthusiasts.
Reigniting South Korea’s off-road spirit
Despite being the home of some remarkable vehicles and automotive culture, South Korea’s off-road community has traditionally lagged behind countries such as Australia or the US; Kia sees an opportunity to change that with the Tasman.
The Tasman Intensive program goes beyond the typical test drive. It offers a real-world experience that educates drivers, builds skills, and immerses participants in the adventurous lifestyle that pickup ownership can offer.
By combining practical training with recreational activities, Kia hopes to create not just new customers—but passionate advocates for the Tasman and the broader off-roading lifestyle.

Inside the Tasman Intensive program
The program is hosted at the Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) Driving Experience Center and includes driving on both man-made off-road courses and natural trails, including a mountain route. The experience culminates in a camping night on South Korea’s west coast, at the scenic Taean Eundol Auto Campsite.
Participants receive:
- A 320-minute off-road training and driving session
- A free camping experience with essential gear provided
- Hands-on guidance on vehicle features and operation
- Access to a gravel taxi and mountain course driving
- A structured yet relaxed program encouraging skill development and enjoyment
The experience fee is KRW 250,000 (~$280 AUD), and up to four tickets are available per day, with each ticket allowing for 2–3 passengers. Kia limits participation to those with a valid national or international driver’s licence and advises against attendance by individuals with certain health conditions, including heart disease or pregnancy.
A taste of the pickup lifestyle
With South Korea’s auto market long dominated by urban-focused sedans and SUVs, the Tasman marks a cultural shift. Kia’s deliberate investment in programs like Tasman Intensive signals a desire to create a pickup culture from the ground up, complete with outdoor lifestyle appeal.
The camping element is more than an afterthought—it’s a core part of the Tasman identity. The Eundol auto camping site offers a relaxed environment where participants can unwind after their training, enjoy nature, and bond with fellow adventurers. Kia provides basic camping supplies, making it accessible even to first-time campers.
