HMG Driving Experience Centre launches 2025 season with off-road program

Hyundai Motor Group’s HMG Driving Experience Centre, the largest facility of its kind in South Korea, will commence its 2025 season on March 28. The centre, located at the Hankook Technoring in Taean, Chungcheongnam, is designed to offer a range of driving experiences tailored to various skill levels, from novice drivers to high-performance enthusiasts.

Spanning 1.26 million square metres, the facility features an array of driving courses and a two-storey customer building covering 10,223 square metres. Eight dedicated driving circuits form the core of the experience, including a braking course, dry and wet road circuits, a 4.6-kilometre high-speed track, and an off-road section with ramps, gravel, sand, and water crossings.

Among the more technical courses is the wet circle track, which enables drivers to practise controlled oversteer, commonly referred to as drifting. Another, the ‘kick plate’ course, simulates emergency handling by unexpectedly destabilising a vehicle’s rear wheels. Additionally, the multi-purpose driving area incorporates gymkhana—a tight, technical discipline requiring precision through a cone-marked course—and slalom manoeuvres, where drivers weave through a series of obstacles.

The 2025 season introduces new programs aimed at broadening access to driving instruction. The ‘Basic Drive’ course is intended for novice drivers and features Hyundai’s Casper Electric and Kia’s EV4, offering structured training to build confidence behind the wheel. Meanwhile, ‘N Drift Level 2’ provides an advanced curriculum focusing on Hyundai’s high-performance Ioniq 5 N, expanding on the manufacturer’s existing drift program.

For those looking to test their skills on a professional track, the ‘Track Experience Program’ has been extended beyond its usual Inje Speedium location to include the Yeongam Korea International Circuit. These sessions are designed to give participants a hands-on understanding of performance driving in a controlled environment.

Hyundai Motor Group is also incorporating its latest models into public road driving experiences. The ‘Performance Scenic Drive Program’ allows participants to test high-performance models such as the Hyundai Avante N, Ioniq 5 N, Kia EV6 GT, and EV9 GT, under the supervision of professional instructors.

One of the more notable additions this season is the ‘Tasman Intensive’ program, which highlights Kia’s first dedicated pickup truck, the Tasman. This two-day event combines off-road driving with a camping experience, showcasing the Tasman X-Pro model’s capabilities in rugged conditions.

Families are also a focus, with the introduction of a dedicated children’s lounge and the ‘Junior Driving Experience’ program. Designed for children aged four to twelve, the program allows participants to design and control small model vehicles via a mobile app, providing an early introduction to automotive engineering concepts.

Since its official opening in September 2022, the HMG Driving Experience Centre has seen over 18,000 visitors. The 2025 season will run from March 28 to November 30, with bookings and further details available through the centre’s official website.
